What is Metafit and High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)?

Metafit combines traditional bodyweight exercises with High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and Tabata techniques to set the metabolism on fire!

HIIT is an exercise strategy that alternates periods of short, intense anaerobic exercise with less-intense recovery periods, whilst Tabata is a training method originally used by the Japanese Olympic speed skating team and named after scientist Izumi Tabata, who studied its effect on a group of male students. The study used 20 seconds of ultra-intense exercise (at an intensity of about 170% of VO2max) followed by 10 seconds of rest, repeated continuously for 4 minutes (8 cycles).

Metafit combines these two disciplines and works on the basis that 65% of calories are burnt while resting so, in order to increase calorie burn, you must increase your resting metabolic rate.  It encourages your body to do this by working your muscles to failure and increasing your heart so you can carry on burning calories for up to 24 hours after the session.  It is based on something called EPOC, which stands for excess post-exercise oxygen consumption, meaning that in recovery, oxygen is used in the processes that restore the body to a resting state and adapt it to the exercise just performed.

Some of the benefits include increasing your metabolism, preserve/increase muscle mass and increase fitness and burn fat.

Created by a former Royal Marine Commando, Metafit works big muscle groups with simple, unchoreographed, high intensity intervals and maximum effort training to get results.  It’s about working your body to its maximum. In fact, the fitter you get and the more often you get to Metafit, the harder the workout will become, as you get deeper into the exercises and try more challenging variations.

Is summary - Metafit is a style of HIIT and is designed to boost your fitness, rocket your energy levels & get massive results in the shortest amount of time possible.
